USA Rice is a nonprofit trade association with programs that include the promotion of U.S. rice domestically and abroad. USA Rice also represents industry interests in federal legislative and regulatory matters, industry quality standards, education, research, product development, and policy.


U.S. grown rice and rice products are a $30+ billion industry. Approximately 18 million tons of rice is grown annually in Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and Missouri. About half of the U.S. crop is exported with Mexico as the number one destination. Eighty-five percent of the rice consumed in the U.S. is grown here.


USA Rice is recruiting for an International Promotion Manager to report to the Vice President, International to execute activities and achieve the goals of the International Promotion program area.  Manage regional program activities and perform analysis, reporting, and presentation of international promotion program achievements.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the development and execution of International Promotion activities in assigned areas/markets.
  • Develop, edit and submit the annual United Export Strategy and subsequent program notifications. Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) staff both in Washington, DC and abroad. 
  • Assist USA Rice in performing market analysis of exports and market trends to inform promotion strategies and communicate results to the members and FAS.
  • Attend industry meetings and events and represent USA Rice at external meetings; draft minutes, write success stories and other articles, create PowerPoint presentations and other materials.
  • Manage the site content on the USA Rice website for the International Promotion area.
  • Travel domestically and internationally for program oversight and activity implementation.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements

  • Attendance at meetings outside the office, in Washington, DC, rice growing and other states, and, internationally.
  • Physical ability to work on a computer at a desk for long periods.



Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Fluency in Spanish preferred

Technical Skills:

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with USDA’s eAuthentication or similar databases
  • Experience with CRM or CRM-type databases


  • B.A./B.S., ideally in international trade, international relations, international business, or related field; three to five years’ experience in project management preferably with a trade association involved in export promotion.
  • Position requires a high-energy, self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with good organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • An interest in marketing, international business and knowledge of USDA export promotion programs is highly desirable.
