The Center for Global Affairs (CGA) at New York University’s School of Professional Studies seeks a part-time Research Scientist who will support the Peace Research and Education Program (PREP). The successful candidate will contribute to the design and implementation of the project, “Strengthening University Capacity in Peace Education in Duhok and Mosul” through design, implementation and analysis of data for a simulation workshop for youth in and around Duhok. The part-time Research Scientist will be based in New York for the duration of the assignment and will report to the project’s principal investigator, who is a full-time faculty member at the Center for Global Affairs. The appointment will be for a period of three months, from April 1 until June 30, 2018.
The successful candidate will possess the following attributes:
Master’s degree in global affairs, international affairs or international relations, with significant coursework in peace studies or peacebuilding
Experience developing simulation workshops for youth focused on conflict transformation;
Ability and willingness to work as part of a research team led by a full-time PREP Research Scientist;
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills;
Excellent analytical skills;
Sensitivity to cultural differences;
Ability to work independently;
Respect for needs of participants and partners while meeting project deadlines;
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
