Position description

As a User Experience writer, you are an advocate for Google design, working to shape product experiences by creating useful, meaningful text that helps users complete the task at hand. You help set the vision for content and drive cohesive product narratives across multiple platforms and touch points. As a stellar writer, you have a portfolio of work that demonstrates content that simplifies and beautifies the overall user experience. 

You work with people in a variety of UX design-related jobs including researchers, product managers, engineers, marketing and customer operations. Collaborating with each, you strive to establish cohesive language and a unified voice across products and platforms. You regularly use empathy, logic and hard data to inform content choices, and are an expert in your product. You provide content recommendations that include the right words and sometimes complementary data and images.

  • Compose content for apps, communities, emails, newsletters, notifications, articles and summaries tailored for users in emerging markets.
  • Collaborate with researchers, community teams and product leaders to create narratives that resonate with Google’s users in emerging markets.
  • Scope, organize and track content design projects.
  • Prioritize multiple stakeholder requests.
  • Work to execute emerging market-specific products and features with Product Managers, UX researchers, designers and other stakeholders.


Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, International Relations or Marketing or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working on content aimed at users in emerging and/or developing markets.
  • Experience in editorial, marketing or UX/UI writing.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience writing for voice and/or video.
  • Experience working with user research and analyzing customer feedback.
  • Highly collaborative team player, experienced working with product, engineering and UX teams.
  • Proven ability to help define and maintain brand voice and tailor content for mobile experiences.
  • Ability to speak and write in one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese (BR), Bahasa Indonesian, Hindi and/or Bengali fluently and idiomatically.
