Located in lower Manhattan, the Foundation partners with 53 U.S. universities and over 100 leading US and overseas organizations to deliver two, one of a kind programs -- the Thomas J. (TJ) and Jeannette K. (JK) Watson Fellowships.



Watson seeks a Program Manager to join our highly engaged and collaborative team. The Program Manager works at all levels of the organization, across programs and functions. The Program Manager engages directly with Watson Fellows, global partners and thought-leaders to directly impact the foundation’s work and build our next generation of leaders.



  • Work directly with JK Watson Fellows as they navigate a three-year fellowship experience including: mentorship, workshop facilitation, professional development guidance, and the review/edit written work (e.g. cover letters).
  • Collaborate with staff and contribute ideas that ensure leading edge programming is effectively executed across a diverse student population
  • Actively assist in organization and execution of annual Fellowship selection processes
  • Develop and execute summer cultural program of events for fellows
  • Reply to fellows’ summer weekly journal submissions, reflecting on their personal, professional and cultural growth
  • Assist with managing a robust internship program that provides fellows with opportunities to work in the U.S. and abroad. Support fellows as they conduct outreach to organizations
  • Coordinate fellow travel (flight and visa) logistics alongside outside contractors
  • Plan and execute events throughout the year that inspire fellows and partners and mark program milestones, including a three-day Fellow Orientation and four-day Returning Fellows Conference. Tasks may include: venue selection, agreements, invitations, material preparation, ensuring events are delivered at the highest level
  • Produce and deliver fellow and partner communications for events and activities
  • Coordinate campus visits with fellows and college partners; conduct information sessions and webinars for prospective candidates 
  • Maintain data and systems to ensure program information is complete, accurate and accessible including fellow- and partner-facing portals
  • Help manage the Foundation’s online presence and update marketing communication materials as required
  • Manage contracts with risk management consultants, travel insurance providers, and travel agents
  • Procure supplies and program materials as required
  • Additional responsibilities as required



  • 4+ years experience working with diverse student populations (preferably college level) with focus on leadership, mentorship or career counseling 
  • Program creation and coordination experience with students in a higher education or related context 
  • Experience managing data and using systems (preferably Salesforce)
  • Event planning experience
  • International travel and work experience preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Professional and supportive office environment, New York City (currently remote)
  • Occasional travel to NYC college campuses, internship partners and program events
  • Limited annual travel to partner college campuses across the U.S.
  • Monthly evening and weekend (Saturday) events
