Position description

We are searching for a Deputy Country Director to provide senior level leadership to our new office in Ukraine. In this role you will be assisting the Country Director to lead in all programmatic and logistical operations for the office. We are working hard to meet the ever-changing needs of Ukrainians during this war and need your experience to help us manage our work effectively. In the role of Deputy Country Director, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Assist the Country Director to create, articulate, and disseminate a clear vision and strategy for team
  • Provide leadership, management, and strategy for all programmatic aspects of the country office, including possible future donor awards and internal funding
  • Provide direct line management of Program Managers and address programmatic challenges
  • Work with the Program Development Officer, Finance Manager, and Program Managers to ensure all grants, awards, and internally funded programs are implemented according guidelines and cultural requirements
  • Supervise and provide accountability and direction as the office operates programs through partners and churches
  • Monitor the humanitarian crisis in country, performing field assessments when necessary and advising the Country Director of response options
  • Host VIP trips including media personnel, government officials, dignitaries, and IHQ visitors
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university and a minimum of five (5) years’ related international work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience leading a large team and in cross-cultural team leadership is required
  • Understanding of and experience in logistics, financial, and administrative coordination required
  • General knowledge of project planning and implementation
  • Ability to coordinate activities with local involvement and establish working relationships with other NGOs
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (can be completed after hire)
