Key Functions
- Work with communications team to develop and implement the Committee’s communications and public relations objectives
- Oversee the Committee’s online presence, both to promote the organization and its programs, and to further its role in educating the public about U.S.-China relations
- Engage with target audiences through social media to raise awareness of the Committee and its mission and to increase brand recognition
- Monitor and promote press coverage, media appearances, and articles related to the organization and its directors, members, staff, and fellows
- Monitor current events and discussion of issues affecting U.S.-China relations and Greater China
- Ensure that organizational visual identity and writing style are applied to public materials
- Collaborate with staff to promote the organization’s activities, initiatives, and accomplishments
- Collaborate with communications team and other staff on the development of digital content for distribution through social media
Responsibilities
- Develop social media campaigns that engage with target audiences and grow the Committee’s following
- Manage, develop content, and implement strategy across the Committee’s social media platforms with 100,000+ followers (Currently Twitter, Facebook. LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube)
- Manage communications content calendar and organize digital outreach across platforms
- Create social media graphics, infographics, and images using graphic design tools
- Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of social media campaigns and strategies using quantitative tools and qualitative analysis
- Produce and submit a bi-annual report of social media activity, growth, and paid advertising results
- Maintain social media content guidelines
- Oversee website maintenance, updates, SEO, and coordinate with director of communications to set strategic direction
- Manage promotional advertising strategy for the organization’s digital media accounts
- Contribute to the monthly e-Newsletter in coordination with the director of communications
- Coordinate with staff on major public event invitations, targeted social media ad campaigns, and organizational announcements
- Collaborate with communications team on the production of the annual report of the Committee’s activities
- Potential for growth with increased autonomy and management of staff
Qualifications
- Broad-based knowledge of China; interest in and commitment to the U.S.-China relationship
- Demonstrated editorial management skills, analytical skills, and interpersonal skills
- Advanced proficiency in writing compelling copy and social media messaging
- Demonstrated experience in creating, planning, and executing digital ad campaigns
- Creativity and experience working on various social media platforms
- Web editing and SEO experience on platforms like WordPress preferred
- Experience creating and managing e-newsletters on platforms like Pardot or Mailchimp preferred
- Knowledge of basic graphic design and ability to use tools like Canva or Adobe Photoshop
- Deadline oriented and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and in teams
- A high degree of organizational skill and multi-tasking ability required
- Some proficiency in Mandarin preferred
Requirements
- U.S. work authorization
- B.A. required/M.A. strongly preferred
- Minimum 4-6 years of experience; previous experience in international relations highly desired
- Occasional evening and weekend work
- Based in New York City
