Position description

The mandate stems from the Equality in Action Voluntary Cooperation Program (PCV), which is being rolled out in 12 countries and 3 regions over an eight-year period (2020-2028). The PCV aims to increase the involvement of local partner organizations in countries of intervention in inclusive, innovative and sustainable initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam's role is to support these organizations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people, to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam puts the rights of women, girls and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of everything we do.

Here's what your daily life will look like:

In close collaboration with Oxfam's in-country team members, your mandate will be to:

Strengthening intervention

  • Contribute to the implementation of political and institutional advocacy processes in the three outcomes of the Environmental and Climate Justice axis, at national, regional and international levels, in coordination with partner and allied organizations and in line with Oxfam's influencing approach;
  • Co-construct, with the Oxfam team in Peru, organizations and various collectives, social advocacy processes around the environmental and climate justice agenda;
  • Co-construct, with the country team and partner organizations, strategic interventions around the economic justice and women's rights agenda to apply to funding sources;
  • Participate in and contribute to the regional discussion on inequalities in the country program's environmental and climate justice agenda;
  • Participate in and contribute to the strategic planning process of the Oxfam Peru office, promoting transformative leadership for women's rights;
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of initiatives to promote environmental rights as part of Oxfam's Equality in Action program in the country;
  • Contribute to the measurement of program performance by applying feminist principles;

Support and advise partners

  • Lead the implementation of actions and enable spaces for dialogue on the theme of environmental and climate justice, including coordination with partners and collectives;
  • Contribute to strengthening the articulation of civil society organizations, movements and various collectives, as well as their capacities and the conditions that facilitate influence processes around environmental justice themes, in line with the country's strategic needs.

For this mandate you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada;
  • Have university degree in environment, climate science, economics, social science, political science, project management, research, communications or other relevant field;
  • Have 3 years' experience relevant to the mandate;
  • Have a good knowledge of environmental and climate issues, with a focus on energy transition, food systems or extractive industries ;
  • Experience of a rights-based approach to environmental and climate issues, particularly with regard to indigenous peoples' rights or women's rights (an asset);
  • Be fluent in Spanish, spoken and written (required);
  • Master the Office suite.
