Position description
The EBF is seeking to recruit, at a full-time position, a Policy Adviser – Financial Crime who, as a member of the Compliance, Tax & AML Team, will be instrumental in designing and delivering the EBF advocacy on financial crime, anti-money laundering and financial sanctions.
Detailed responsibilities
- Coordinate the EBF position-building and advocacy on AML and Financial Sanctions;
- Coordinate the work of the EBF Expert Groups on AML and Financial Sanctions;
- Monitor and help anticipate regulatory developments in the field of AML and Financial Sanctions.
- Draft and deliver positions/responses to consultations on relevant legislation and support the communication of EBF’s messages in the financial crime area;
- Actively engage with key stakeholders in the area of AML and Financial Sanctions (EU institutions and agencies, with a particular focus on the Commission, the Council, the European Parliament, the European Banking Authority and Europol, International Organisations including FATF, key fora and other industry bodies);
- Support, if necessary, the activities of the Team in the field of taxation.
Successful candidates fit for the following profile
- University degree in economy/law or any other related field;
- Thorough knowledge of EU public affairs and excellent understanding of the EU decision making process;
- At least one year of working experience, in an EU institution, a Financial Institution or a Financial Intelligence Unit;
- Excellent organisational skills and capacity to prepare large meetings, setting out agendas, discussing with experts about relevant content, overseeing the administrative work and taking responsibility on the development of the meeting/event;
- Effective communication and team working skills;
- Excellent influencing skills, persuasiveness and sense of diplomacy;
- Ability to blend the views and inputs provided by members of a group and to draft submissions, position papers and articles;
- Capacity to adopt pragmatic viewpoints including on the implementation of regulation in credit institutions across EU Member States;
- Excellent writing skills in English;
- Good interpersonal and bridge builder skills and ability to work under pressure;
- Openness to assume responsibilities on a variety of technical matters;
- Strategic and analytical thinking skills in a project-driven environment.
