Position description

he Department of Historical & Political Studies (HAPS) at Arcadia University, invites applications for an adjunct professor of Political Science to teach Introduction to American Public Policy, in the spring of 2025, and possibly one course in American politics or government in subsequent semesters as needed (e.g. The Institutions of American Government, Campaigns and Elections, American Political Thought).

This position is in the Department of Historical & Political Studies (HAPS), which is an interdisciplinary department with undergraduate majors in Political Science, Law & Public Policy, International Relations, Diplomacy, and Law, Global Studies, Art & Global Change, Global Displacement & Human Rights Advocacy, History, Philosophy, as well as one Master's program (International Peace & Conflict Resolution).

Location: Glenside

Responsibilities:

  • Teach one in person section of Introduction of American Public Policy, Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30 a.m. to 10:10 a.m.
  • Prepare course materials and grade related assignments, along with tasks associated with teaching weekly courses.
  • Meet with students during regular weekly office hours.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Political Science, or be near completion of the degree, and should demonstrate excellence in and commitment to teaching.
  • Applicants should also have a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and anti-racist pedagogies.
