The Center for European and Mediterranean Studies in Arts and Science at New York University (CEMS/NYU) invites applicants for a Faculty Fellow position in the field of European Studies. The initial appointment will be for one year beginning September 1, 2025, renewable annually for a maximum of three years, pending administrative and budgetary approval.
Faculty fellows teach three graduate seminars per year, advise and mentor students, oversee master’s theses, organize public programs, and actively participate in shaping the life of the program. Student advising is a key component of this position, as the faculty fellow will have a significant role in directing theses, teaching research methodologies, and supporting both MA students and undergraduate students in their research. Service to the program will also involve representing the Center at university events and meetings and contributing to organizing academic workshops and events at the Center. Candidates should demonstrate through their application materials a commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship and excellence in teaching.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $60,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
CEMS/NYU seeks a scholar experienced in advising student research about Europe and specializing in one of the following disciplines: comparative European politics, international relations, sociology, contemporary European history, or anthropology. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research and teaching focus on the European Union; on political, economic and social developments in contemporary Europe; on European foreign affairs; or on identity and minorities in Europe.
Candidates should have completed their Ph.D. no earlier than 2020 and no later than August 1, 2025.
