The US-China Business Council (USCBC) is a private, non-profit, membership organization of more than 270 American companies that do business with China. Founded in 1973 following the first formal exchanges between the United States and China by a group of interested companies, USCBC’s mission is to expand the US-China commercial relationship to the benefit of its membership and, more broadly, the US economy. Through close collaboration between offices in Washington, DC, Beijing, and Shanghai, USCBC provides extensive China-focused public policy advocacy, information, business advisory services, along with events, to its multinational member companies.
USCBC seeks an experienced professional to serve as the Executive Assistant to USCBC’s President in Washington, DC. The full-time position will report to the USCBC president. This USCBC position will assist the President in all administrative aspects, assist the President and Senior Vice President in responsibilities relating to USCBC’s board of directors, and perform other duties as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to the President, including calendar management, travel arrangements, and preparation of reports;
- Assist President and Senior Vice President in preparing and designing written communications and presentations for board members and their representatives;
- Assist President and Senior Vice President in scheduling regular briefing meetings for board member representatives;
- Act as a key point of contact for board members and their representatives, addressing inquiries in a timely manner and providing necessary information;
- Assist with other special projects or tasks as assigned by the President or Senior Vice President;
- Answer and direct incoming calls, providing basic information or forwarding to relevant team members;
- Welcome visitors with professionalism, ensuring they are directed appropriately;
- Assist with office management tasks in conjunction with the Admin department as needed;
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the President or Senior Vice President.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree and 5-10 or more years of relevant work experience;
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks and remain calm and composed in a fast-paced environment;
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to anticipate the needs of leadership;
- Strong written and oral communication skills to internal and external stakeholders and to groups of varying sizes;
- Discretion and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism;
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and meeting software;
- A high degree of initiative, ability to set and meet deadlines, sense of responsibility, and dedication to quality;
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills; sense of humor and ability to work within small teams;
- US permanent work authorization (US citizen or lawful permanent resident).
- Interest in US-China political, policy, and economic issues and/or US foreign policy, Asia regional, and international trade issues is a plus;

Salary will be in the range of $60,000 – $85,000. Benefits include a hybrid work from home and office schedule, excellent health insurance options, generous vacation, holiday, and sick leave allowances, and 10% of salary employer contributions into a SEP-IRA after one year of employment.
