Department Information
Within this setting, the political science program at Georgia Southern prepares students for active roles as citizens of the state of Georgia, the United States and the world. Studying the interplay of political institutions and the principles, organization and methods of government, students in our courses gain a sound understanding of the United States government and the Georgia government and are introduced to theoretical themes and global issues. The Visiting Instructor's role will be to help provide a strong pedagogical foundation to our department's mission and commitment to student success.
Job Summary
Reporting to the department chair, the visiting instructor of political science will teach a 5/5 course load in-person, online or via hybrid modes of delivery. The visiting instructor will be primarily responsible for a required Core IMPACTS course in American Government (POLS 1101) and may teach other courses in the department depending upon need and/or specific credentials of the successful candidate. This is an academic year appointment for the months of August 2025-May 2026. All visiting positions are non-tenure track appointments. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications
Earned JD or Masters degree in political science, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in political science at time of application.
Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience teaching an online survey course in American Government
