The postdoctoral track of the CITP fellows' program is for people who have recently received or are about to receive a Ph. D. or doctorate degree and work on understanding and improving the relationship between technology and society. The priority areas of our center include (1) AI, Data Science and Society, (2) Privacy and Security, and (3) Platforms and Digital Infrastructure. CITP tightly integrates basic research, applied research, and societal engagement, enabling distinctive impact, both academic and societal. In this context, we welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds such as computer science, electrical and computer engineering, sociology, public policy, information science, communication, economics, political science, psychology, philosophy, and related technology disciplines. Selected candidates will be appointed at the postdoctoral research associate rank.
Positions at the postdoctoral rank will be for one year, renewable annually based on funding and meeting all other requirements.
The anticipated start date is September 1, 2027. Fellows in the postdoctoral track are not required or expected to teach, but if they wish, they may have the option of teaching. When teaching, successful candidates will carry the additional part-time rank of Lecturer, and any teaching opportunities are subject to sufficient enrollments and the approval of the Dean of the Faculty.
These positions are not elibile for sponsorship of an H-1B visa requiring consular processing; other visa sponsorships (including H-1B visas not requiring consular processing) may be available as appropriate.
Selected candidates are expected to pursue impact beyond the academy. There are many possible avenues, and we are happy to work with each fellow to help you figure out what works best for you.
