Terms of Reference for: Alliance2015 Intern
2 Programme & Advocacy Assistants
(2 positions; one open immediately from February 2019; one open from mid-April 2019)
Alliance2015 is a strategic partnership of seven leading European INGOs (plus new Associate Member Ayuda en Acción) initially constituted to increase contribution to the Millennium Development Goals, and now to the Sustainable Development Goals. Alliance2015 members cooperate in emergency preparedness and response, development programming, knowledge sharing and advocacy. Alliance2015 members work in 89 countries around the world with a combined total annual income of just over €1 billion, making Alliance2015 one of the largest European networks of development and humanitarian NGOs

Contract type: 2 x 1-year non-renewable paid internships (1. Feb 2019-Feb 2020 and 2. April 2019 to April 2020)
These two positions, are designed to work together and provide multifunctional support to the Alliance2015 hub, the office based in Brussels, with an emphasis on advocacy and joint programming support; and to give a young professional with an interest in humanitarian and development programming, institutional fundraising and advocacy an all-round taste of the issues and ways of working of a large NGO alliance as part of their professional development.
The overall objective is to support the smooth running of the Alliance2015 hub (a sixperson team comprising Director, Senior Programme Advisor, Communications Officer, Emergency Preparedness and Response Officer, two interns plus seconded/hosted member staff), with an emphasis on supporting the Alliance’s joint advocacy, development and humanitarian programming, and institutional fundraising agendas in Brussels per the 2018-2020 strategic action plan.
This is primarily carried out by supporting the work of the Alliance Working Groups which are the key delivery mechanism for Alliance strategy, linking member headquarters, field operations and the Alliance hub. The core groups include Programme, Emergency, Advocacy, Institutional Fundraising, as well as informal groups and taskforces on issues including monitoring and evaluation, security, human resources, logistics, cash programming, private sector engagement etc. The Communications Officer supports the work of the Communications Group.
Main duties & Responsibilities
Support to the A2015 working groups: 80%
Interns are usually allocated to support 2 of the core working groups, but must work closely together to facilitate integration and joint delivery.
General Alliance2015 hub office support: 20%
