The Spanish Language Media Strategist position, located in Earthjustice’s Washington, D.C. regional office, is responsible for getting Spanish-language press coverage of Earthjustice litigation and policy work, and for developing communications strategy for issue areas impacting Latino communities.
The Spanish Language Media strategist works with litigators, policy staff, and national and regional communication Strategists to identify English and Spanish language media opportunities for relevant issue areas and executes on strategy, including press pitching, developing media lists, building relations with journalists, and promoting thought leaders on Spanish-language outlets. The strategist drafts press releases, blogs, op-eds, social media posts and works with contractors to ensure that relevant content is translated and curated on our Spanish-language web pages.
This position also works closely with national and regional communication strategists on developing communications strategy for issues that disproportionately impact Latino communities. He or she helps set campaign goals and audiences, develops top-level messaging and storytelling frames, and participates in content creation, including writing, multimedia, and social media production. The position is also tasked with working with the marketing team to develop and execute strategies to engage and expand Latino audiences, including research, polling, and partnership outreach to boost awareness and brand recognition of Earthjustice and the issues we work on. He or she will help develop messaging guidance for the Communications department to better incorporate diversity, equity and inclusion values in both internal and external communications. The Spanish Language Media Strategist may also work in areas that coincide with Latino outreach but have other priorities such as advancing an overall campaign or marquee issue.
This position reports to the National Media Strategist in the Program Communications team of the Communications Department.
