Position description

We are seeking candidates with a strong background in project management to join our team at SDDirect. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in programme management and framework management for national and multilateral donors, both in the role of lead and sub-contractors.

Overall Purpose of the Role

The Programme Coordinator is a mid-level staff consultant position with the SDDirect Programmes Team. S/he will play a key role in coordinating one of SDDirect’s Helpdesks. Gender equality and social inclusion are at the heart of all of SDDirect’s work, and the portfolio includes programmes focused on: governance, voice and accountability; security, justice and peacebuilding; gender-based violence; women’s economic empowerment; and inclusive public services (including girls’ education, urban development and infrastructure). Some of our flagship programmes include the Strengthening Transparency, Accountability and Responsiveness Programme (STAR-Ghana); DFID’s Infrastructure and Cities for Economic Development; the Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) Helpdesk; DFID’s Work and Opportunities for Women programme; the Girls Education Challenge; and Disability Inclusive Development. Essential Person Specification Criteria

  • Undergraduate degree (desirable in a relevant field e.g. International Development, International Politics and Governance, International Relations)
  • At least two years of experience in programme management working on international development/research coordination
  • Excellent excel skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritise tasks in response to multiple requests
  • Ability to negotiate contractual requirements with clients.
  • Ability to adapts skills and knowledge to address projects of different complexity, context and clients
  • Experience identifying, assessing and escalating management risks
  • Demonstrates drive and motivation towards achieving successful results on the project/programme
  • Excellent presentational and written skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas to a range of audiences
  • Strong team-working skills, as well as the ability to work on your own initiative
