Position Summary

The Global Privacy Director reports to the Chief Ethics, Compliance & Privacy Officer and is responsible for developing, implementing and executing the Conservancy’s Global Privacy program to promote respecting the privacy of and protecting the personal data of individuals whose personal data the Conservancy collects, processes, stores and uses in compliance with applicable privacy and data protection laws. Other responsibilities include supporting the objectives of the Ethics, Compliance & Privacy Office; investigating privacy and data incidents and policy violations.



Please note that the location for this position is flexible within the United States. TNC's headquarters is located in Arlington, Virginia.


  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience in compliance, legal, audit or related areas, including 4 years’ experience in privacy.
  • Experience, and proven coursework, or other training in principles, practices, and procedures of international privacy laws, regulations, compliance and best practices.
  • Experience with data inventories and privacy impact/risk assessments.
  • Experience organizing and managing projects across functions and geographies.
  • Experience conducting or facilitating trainings, activities and workshops both in-person and virtually. 
  • Experience presenting to senior leadership.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships in a cross-functional, matrixed environment across geographically disbursed teams.
  • Experience communicating to a wide variety of business audiences.
