The Content Producer will play an integral role in communicating Heifer International’s mission and global work to a wide audience of partners and donors. They will work with the Global Communications Team to design and produce print and digital material, including Heifer’s World Ark Magazine, organizational reports, PowerPoint presentations, and other collateral. The Content Producer will manage the production process for print products and bring new design ideas to projects based on industry best practices and demonstrated creativity.

This is a remote position.

A. Design, copyedit, and produce a range of print and digital products for the organization (45%)

  • Design and basic editing for annual report, annual board report, project reports, PowerPoint presentations, capacity statements, grant proposals, and other core products
  • Use industry best practices and Heifer guidelines to design products in collaboration with the Global Communications Team, country teams, regional teams, and others
  • Produce materials for a variety of audiences, including the development sector, donors, partners, and journalists
  • Convey complex and technical data and information by visually representing them in the form of charts, icons, and other visuals
  • Copyedit materials, removing jargon and acronyms and review to ensure products flow seamlessly
  • Advise on content to prioritize in products based on design and space constraints
  • Work with the Global Communications Team to identify new opportunities to leverage and promote Heifer’s work and impact through visual and written content

B. Design, review, and package proposals (30%)

  • Design, layout, and package proposals in accordance with requirements and guidelines
  • Review proposals to ensure they are free from mistakes and formatting issues

C. Manage design and coordinate design and production for Heifer’s World Ark magazine (15%)

  • Design and layout of Heifer’s World Ark magazine in collaboration with the production team using industry best practices and Heifer brand guidelines
  • Coordinate with magazine printer to create print and design roadmap that informs stakeholders about content deadlines, updates, print order changes, and print deadlines
  • Advise team on elements of visual design and layout that can enhance the magazine
  • Copyedit content in the magazine and offer suggestions to engage the audience
  • Deliver final magazine proof to printer

D. Manage and streamline the production process for creating products and drive innovation in digital design products (5%) 

  • Develop production management processes to streamline work, improve accountability, and ensure deadlines are met
  • Bring forward new design trends and production processes and work with Marketing Department to update Heifer’s brand guidelines
  • Contribute to the creation and refresh of Heifer’s brand and production guidelines

E. Perform other job-related duties as required (5%)


Minimum Requirements

  1. Minimum of five (5) years experience in graphic design, production, and communications
  2. Demonstrated ability to produce graphics of different sizes and formats for print, digital, and social media
  3. Experience using Adobe Creative Suite and other graphic design software
  4. Experience designing and copyediting reports, proposals, marketing materials, presentations, and other materials
  5. Alignment with Heifer International’s values and community development approach
  6. Fluent in English

Preferred Requirements

  1. Demonstrated Experience producing materials for different audiences, such as donors, institutional partners, corporate partners, and others
  2. Experience managing the production process of print and digital materials and determining deadlines
  3. Experience copyediting material, including familiarity with style guides such as the Associated Press Stylebook and the Chicago Manual of Style
  4. Experience in international development and food and farming sectors
  5. Proficient verbal and written Spanish

Essential Job Functions and Physical Demands
