Position description

Under the direction of the Assistant Dean, the Director of International Relations and Partnerships is responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining a network of relationships with national and international businesses and higher educational institutions that are interested in partnering with UCLA and UCLA Extension (UNEX). This position is responsible to establish partnership with businesses, multi-national corporations, governments, universities, and other entities to recruit international students for UCLA Extension programs (Study Abroad and Certificates). 

The Director is responsible for developing contracts, recruitment plans, market analysis, strategies, proposals and presenting programs (Study Abroad and Certificates) the way that meet the clients' needs. The Director is also responsible to coordinate with the Director of International Alumni, Custom and Corporate Education/Conference Programs (IACCEP) to develop, offer, and support fee-based on-line/on-site learning modules, courses, and programs to new and existing partners around the world. This position is also responsible for resolving client issues, making complex decisions regarding UNEX programs, developing contracts with partners, and managing commission payments and discounts extended to partners (institutional and agents). 

The Director will partner with UNEX and campus academic units to create new business opportunities as well as deliver existing modules, courses and programs. In collaboration with others, the Director develops informational and promotional programs and publications aimed at reaching targeted audiences focusing on the international clientele. 

The Director is responsible to provide measurable metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to measure department's business objectives effectively for each fiscal year.

Qualifications 

Required/Preferred 

Master's degree in relevant field or an equivalent combination of work experience and education; MA in International Education or other relevant advanced degree preferred. Experience in creating pro-forma profit & loss statements strongly preferred. 

Preferred 

Demonstrated experience (typically 5 yrs minimum) in international recruitment, sales, marketing, business development, partner and/or client relations. Demonstrated track record of developing international partnerships and Agency management. 

Required 

Be motivated to achieve sales and partnership successes; self-motivated, committed to "closing," self-starter, confident of the sales process with a disciplined approach each day; proven time and project management skills. 

Required 

Experience in business-to-business sales and in business-to-business partnership development in cross-cultural contexts. 

Required 

Ability to work in a collaborative, diverse, and cross-cultural environment. Confident, culturally aware, and comfortable dealing with potential clients outside the U.S. ( Asia, India, Middle East, etc.).

Ability to establish, manage and evaluate collaborative projects and to develop support among diverse internal, University and private-sector constituencies.

Excellent consulting, marketing and recruitment skills. Evidence of successes in structuring/negotiating international deals.

Ability to travel nationally and internationally.

Extensive experience in the public sector and/or higher education institution.

Familiarity with automated systems and database support tools for managing large amounts of information.

Experience studying or working abroad, with some fluency in one or more languages in addition to English.

Ability to develop business metrics to measure and monitor the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in order to provide a clear comprehensive financial view/dashboard to the leadership.
