2. About the job with UNI MEI

UNI Media, Entertainment & Arts (UNI MEI) unites unions and guilds to raise standards and enforce rights for creatives, technicians and auxiliary workers. Together, member unions take on pressing problems such as low pay, long hours and unsafe working conditions and campaign for freedom of expression and association, equality, diversity and a just digital transformation. The MEI sector is one of the most dynamic sectors within UNI Europa with a wide range of activities. For more than 20 years, the sector is engaged in two EU social dialogue processes - in the audiovisual and live performance sectors. Together with European employers’ associations, we are addressing economic, employment and social policies and undertake joint actions to advance economic and social progress and to promote good governance in the cultural and creative industries. The social partners have been implementing a series of joint projects including on health and safety, gender equality and diversity, skills and career development and the promotion of social dialogue.

As Coordinator of UNI MEI, you will have a key role in assisting with the implementation of several projects and our European advocacy work. The focus of your work will be the implementation of a new two-year project implementing the Framework of Actions on Skills in the European audiovisual and live performance sectors that the European social partners will be carrying out together from 1 September 2023. Some of these activities will include providing strategic input and preparing documents, communicating with representatives of member organisations as well as with representatives of the European employers’ organisations, skills councils and training providers as well EU institutions facilitating interactive workshops and other meetings.

As Coordinator your main tasks will be to:

  • Handle adminsitration of projects on a day-to-day basis;
  • Assist the UNI MEI Head of Department and Policy Director with the development of effective relationships with employers and affiliates;
  • Organise and coordinate meetings with affiliates, the European institutions, employers and other stakeholders at the European level;
  • Prepare material, presentations and publications, minutes, policy briefings and documents for meetings, conferences and forums (coordination of the process, formatting, translation, proofreading, inserting changes, etc.);
  • Carrying out practical organisation and follow-up of meetings, events and missions abroad including administering invoices and reimbursements;
  • Organising and maintaining a good filing and archive system;
  • Performing other operational, administrative, technical and logistical tasks.

In the framework of the project on skills, your main tasks will include:

  • Assist the UNI MEI Policy Director in the management of the project;
  • Coordinate the practical organisation and logistics and prepare all documents for internal meetings, project management meetings and steering group meetings, draft minutes and reports;
  • Maintain and regularly update the website www.creativeskillseurope.eu, and produce all other project communications (newsletters, mailings etc.);
  • Coordinate the practical organisation and the logistics and prepare all documents of three online and three in-presence regional meetings;
  • Coordinate the practical organisation and the logistics and prepare all documents of two online and two in-presence meetings in Brussels.

The Project Coordinator will report to the UNI Europa Regional Secretary and the UNI MEI Policy Director.

3. The Successful Candidate

Our successful candidate will have:

  • A strong personal commitment to the goals of UNI Europa and the trade union movement;
  • Strong writing, public speaking and communication skills;
  • Fluency in English and knowledge of a second official UNI Europa language (German, French, Italian, Swedish), spoken and written, is essential. Knowledge of any other languages is an advantage;
  • Prior experience working in the fields of skills and training, trade unions, NGOs, social movements, campaigns and/or projects, EU affairs is an advantage;
  • An understanding of contemporary labour issues and/or the transformation of the culture and creative industries in Europe;
  • The ability to engage in responsible financial oversight of activities and projects respecting budgetary limitations.

In addition, the successful candidate:

  • Can work well with affiliates and employers with differing experiences, industrial relations systems and social dialogue cultures;
  • Has experience in developing personal work plans and goals;
  • Has good inter-personal and partnership skills;
  • Has the ability to plan strategically and administratively and effective time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.

4. Remuneration
