Position description

The Rockefeller Foundation is seeking an Associate to work with the Program Strategy team and the President’s Office to provide grants management and support to the Strategic Opportunities Fund (SOF) and to support the development of key strategic partnerships and relationships to advance our programmatic goals, deepen our impact, and execute on key special projects. The SOF is a grantmaking and donations portfolio that deepens programmatic and institutional impacts and catalyzes broader partnership engagement. 

Under the direction of the Senior Associate, Program Strategy, the Associate will manage all aspects of the grantmaking process for the fund and will support other grants and contracts for the Program Strategy team. In addition, the Associate will execute key special projects and priorities for the Program Strategy team and the President’s Office.  

Pay Range: $78,207 - $106,671. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience. 

Work Schedule: This role is on a hybrid work schedule, and required to be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage grantee relationships, operations, analysis, and reporting of RF’s Strategic Opportunities Fund (SOF), under the guidance of the Senior Associate, Program Strategy. This includes drafting and managing SOF grants, supporting ideation and opportunity development around grants, and coordinating impact assessment of SOF portfolio.
  • Support effective and tactical management of grants for the President’s Office including management of the President’s grants queue and preparing analysis and summaries of grants before submission to the foundation President.  
  • Support the preparation of materials for the grant queue of the Executive Vice President, Program Strategy. 
  • Manage the grant application and approval process for the Program Strategy team.
  • Serve as a key organizational and analytical partner to help develop priority partnerships and manage special projects for the President’s Office and Program Strategy team. 
  • Support the development of key programmatic internal communications.
  • Serve as knowledge management lead for the team across relationship and project management systems (Salesforce, Atlas – RF’s grant management system, and other organizational platforms) to foster learning and team collaboration. 
  • Contribute to and actively support cross-team collaboration and convenings to build key external partnerships and achieve program objectives, including coordinating with members of the President’s Office and Program Strategy.
  • Work with grantees to ensure grantee progress and preparation of required reports and ensure compliance with the requirements of the grant/contract process.
  • Support program reporting (e.g., Program Highlights for the Board). 

 

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in grantmaking.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. 
  • Prior experience in a complex, fast-paced, and collaborative role in a global or matrixed organization; previous work with a mission-driven organization focused on a highly dynamic, evolving organization and work environment is highly desirable. 
  • Ability to work across a diverse range of subject areas.
  • Relationship management experience.
  • Strong writing and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Previous experience working on special projects.
  • Agile, creative problem solver, and great team player with a can-do attitude. 
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Salesforce, or other CRM platforms; ability to learn new applications quickly.
