Position description
Applica is an independent research consultancy established in 1992 specialising in:
- analysing and researching economic and social policy issues;
- identifying, compiling and processing the most suitable data for the purpose;
- assessing the impact of policy measures;
- managing international networks of experts.
Based in Brussels, Applica is a multicultural company. It has 12 permanent staff members from 8 different origins. Work is supported by a large number of national and thematic experts in all EU Member States.
Job Description
The position is for a policy analyst specialising in evaluation of EU Cohesion policy to be a member of our team undertaking studies and producing reports for the European Commission (particularly DG Regional Policy and DG Employment).
What you will be doing
- Contributing to evaluations and research studies on Cohesion policy and on economic, social and other aspects relating to regional development in the EU;
- Preparing reports, presentations and other written material based on these evaluations and studies;
- Contributing to the design and organisation of physical and virtual workshops (with the support of event management staff);
- Contributing to the preparation of proposals, including drafting sections of technical offers, identifying and coordinating with experts;
- Contributing to other studies or tasks as required.
Desired profile
- University level education in an area relating to economics or political sciences and public policy, preferably including evaluation;
- A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in research and analysis of regional policy and/or employment and social policy, with experience of undertaking evaluations as part of this;
- Keen interest in evaluation of public policy;
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member;
- Good analytical skills;
- Ability to write well in English;
- Fluent English and proficiency in at least one other European language preferred;
- Good inter-personal and communication skills;
- Ability to adapt to a changing workload and to meet tight deadlines;
- Ability to interact with individuals from different backgrounds and points of view, experience and seniority levels.
