Position Overview

We are at a pivotal moment as an organization – preparing to scale our model, deepen our impact and elevate our presence on the global stage. Gulf International Forum is recruiting a full-time development director to help lead the organization through its next phase of growth.

Responsibilities Include

  • The Forum is seeking an accomplished and visionary professional with a track record of leading successful fundraising campaigns, engaging major donors, and fostering partnerships with corporations, foundations, government agencies, and other institutions.
  • Will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the Forum’s fundraising and development strategy.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a fundraising and marketing plan that emphasizes building relationships, engagement, investment, stewardship, and measurable goals.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies, including soliciting donations, managing grants, and organizing fundraising events, as central to ongoing fundraising cycles of soliciting donations.
  • Implement data-driven decision-making processes to evaluate and optimize the effectiveness of fundraising efforts.
  • Sets, monitors, and achieves annual fundraising goals.  Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Personally engage, solicit and steward donors, funders, and businesses and community partners to cultivate value-added relationships.
  • Advise the Executive Director, and other team members, on the state of the fundraising landscape.
  • In conjunction with leadership, represent the organization to various stakeholders for fundraising.
  • Conduct prospect research and manage portfolio for fundraising opportunities such as: foundations, individual donors, corporate donors, government funding opportunities, and others.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of proposals in response to government solicitations.
  • Create and execute a strategy for a large, sustained base of annual individual donors.
  • Assist with institutional and foundation fundraising efforts, including grant research and writing, maintaining a grants calendar, compiling reports, and preparing organizational documents for foundation submission.
  • Build an annual event strategy that implements innovative approaches and builds partnerships with a wide range of donors and allies.
  • Plan, manage and execute major campaigns, including procuring materials and content, developing emails and providing regular reports to the staff and Board leadership on progress.
  • Together with the Executive Director, strategically engage the Board to achieve fundraising and engagement goals that maximize their time, skills, and influence.
  • Develop a quarterly development report to share with leadership.
  • Manage and further develop the relevant administrative infrastructure on various platforms, including grant tracking and reporting systems, events calendars, updating contact lists, donor profiles, website, and annual report donor acknowledgement lists, and meeting minutes, etc.
  • Coordinate distribution of donor outreach materials (e.g., annual reports/donor updates, event invites).
  • Travel to support fundraising events/meetings.
  • Maintaining a donor database, ensuring data entry is accurate and pulling donor lists as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.
  • At least 7 years of nonprofit fundraising experience.
  • Strong track record in fundraising.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; demonstrated ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships.
  • Ability to tell a story in a compelling way–distilling the most impactful points in a clear and concise manner.
  • Tangible experience expanding and cultivating existing donor relationships over time.
  • Track record of closing large gifts.
  • Familiarity with tools like WealthEngine, iWave, LexisNexis, Foundation Directory Online, and Instrumentl is a plus.
  • Flexible and adaptable work and interpersonal style and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with US and Gulf-based colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also function as a team player who will take initiative, and manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic development plan
  • Prior experience working with an organization focused on the Middle East is a plus
  • Keen attention to detail and quality control on all documents produced.
  • Positive attitude and a good sense of humor.
