Position description

BMI is currently seeking a Head of Advisory Custom Research based out of our London office. The Head of Advisory will be responsible for leading and managing the custom research division.

It involves partnering with the commercial team to build a pipeline of opportunities and successfully win new and renew business. Opportunity to manage a small internal team and a large pool of external contributors to oversee project delivery and ensure the highest quality of research output.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research, exceptional commercial and project management skills, and the proven ability to drive business growth.   

 

We’ll Count on You To:

  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities. Develop proposals and pitch to potential clients. Partner with commercial to co-own and deliver a business target.
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the strategic vision for the custom research division. Identify market trends and opportunities to enhance service offerings.
  • Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients. Understand their needs and ensure the delivery of tailored research solutions.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee the design, execution, and delivery of custom research projects. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of research professionals. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of research findings.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and in publications. Stay abreast of industry developments and emerging research methodologies.

What You Need to Have:

  • Relevant experience and ability to demonstrate the attributes and skills we require are more important than specific educational qualifications.
  • 10-15 years of experience in market research, with 5 years in a role with commercial responsibilities.
  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Proven track record of managing client relationships and delivering high-quality research projects.
  • Proficient in research methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

 

What Would Make You Stand Out:

  • Academic qualifications in areas such as Economics, Political Science or International Relations, or extensive work experience that has led to knowledge-building in these areas, may be beneficial.
