With the rapid growth of global carbon management initiatives, we are looking for a Grants Research Specialist to join our team. This role offers the with flexibility of part-time or full-time work on a hybrid model, but there is also an option to work remotely. Regular travel to D.C. is required.

As our Grants Research Specialist, you’ll be a crucial part of our mission, helping secure the funding needed to support our programs. Collaborating with subject matter experts, you’ll develop proposals, manage grants, and build relationships with foundations to fuel our global impact. Although much of our focus is on North America, your work will have a worldwide reach to establish relationships and secure grants.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and execute strategies to secure critical grants.
  • Research carbon management priorities as identified by the CEO and Board.
  • Foster and cultivate relationships with foundation staff and decision-makers.
  • Harness our network to connect with influential leaders and seize opportunities to engage potential donors and experts at pivotal events.
  • Partner with the Foundation’s experts to develop and present campaigns and project proposals.
  • Oversee grant contracts and reporting, ensuring all funder expectations are met.
  • Manage our Foundation’s website and communications.

About you

To succeed in this role, you should excel both in team settings and independently. You’ll be engaging, confident, and adaptable in your approach. Strong research and analytical skills are essential, along with a commitment to integrity, quality, and collaboration.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years of proven experience in foundation fundraising or the think tank industry.
  • Demonstrated success in working with major climate foundations.
  • Knowledge of the grant-making process, from workflows to terminology.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and follow-through.

Bonus Points if You Have:

  • Passion for philanthropy, climate change, and impact.
  • Knowledge of carbon management and its role in climate mitigation.
  • Working across borders.
