Position description
GLOBSEC is looking for a Global Europe Director to provide strategic leadership for GLOBSEC’s Global Europe Programme, positioning the organization as a leader in EU geopolitics and geoeconomics. This role focuses on driving program strategy, fostering partnerships, advancing key EU priorities, and leading a high-performing team to achieve sustainable growth and influence.
What You’ll Do:
Strategic Leadership and Vision:
- Define and implement the strategic direction of the Global Europe Programme to address the EU’s geopolitical and geoeconomic challenges;
- Focus on critical areas such as EU enlargement, energy, competitiveness in critical sectors, critical raw materials, public-private collaboration, and neighbourhood policy;
- Integrate the Global Europe Stream with broader GLOBSEC initiatives, ensuring synergy across topics and platforms.
Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building:
- Cultivate relationships with government officials, multinational corporations, think tanks, and key stakeholders, both within the EU and outside of it, across the Global South and middle powers;
- Initiate and oversee an informal hub of influential MEPs, European Commission leaders, and ambassadors to enhance dialogue on EU priorities, especially the Global Gateway initiative.
Programme Development and Execution:
- Lead fundraising efforts for the key initiatives and projects under the Global Europe Programme;
- Ensure sustainable program growth with long-term partnerships and a stable team and network of experts;
- Design and execute high-impact activities - events, research and policy initiatives.
Team and Operational Leadership:
- Lead and develop the Global Europe team, focusing on recruitment, talent development, and building a high-performance culture aligned with GLOBSEC’s goals;
- Ensure alignment with organizational financial priorities and efficient resource management.
Public and Media Engagement:
- Represent GLOBSEC at high-level events and in the media;
- Collaborate with the communications department to cover important issues and new content ideas.
Qualifications
- Fluent in English (native or near-native level);
- Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy or a related field;
- Leadership experience in international organisations, think tanks, government, or policy-driven institutions (3+ years of experience);
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, program development, and cross-border collaboration (5+ years of experience);
- Experience in European geopolitics, geoeconomics, and EU enlargement policies (5+ years of experience);
- Exceptional strategic planning and program leadership abilities;
- Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills with high-level stakeholders;
- Expertise in European and global political dynamics;
- Ability to manage and inspire high-performing teams;
- Excellent public speaking, communication, and event management skills.
