Position description

Primary Function. Lead government relations expert for defense and space programs relating to Honeywell’s Aerospace Technologies Control Systems Strategic Business Unit.
Reporting. Reports Vice President, Global Government Relations, Aerospace Technologies
Location. 101 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20001

Responsibilities:

  •  Government Relations – Serves as a Honeywell representative to Congress and Administration. Develops and executes advocacy and legislative campaigns to support business objectives.
  • Political Action Committee – Serves as a lobbyist for the Honeywell International Political Action Committee (HIPAC). Represents Honeywell at political fundraisers. Supports employee recruitment activities.
  • Legislative, Budget, and Policy Expert – Comprehensive knowledge of legislative process. Identifies and disseminates analysis of relevant legislation to company stakeholders and leaders.

  • Secure policy and appropriation outcomes
  • Develop long-term relationships
  • Provide advice and recommendations on legislation, regulatory and policy matters
  • Support company's business objectives

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS
Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

Qualifications

  • Experience– Ten or more years in the United States Congress working for a Member of Congress or as professional staff in the defense authorization or appropriation committees. Relevant experience in the following will also be considered: trade associations, public policy organizations, corporate government affairs and civilian or military legislative affairs.
  • Education – Bachelor’s degree is required. Postgraduate degrees in business, political science, policy, engineering, international relations, law, or similar are preferred.
  • Expertise – Extensive knowledge of Congressional operations, authorizations, and appropriations.
    Professional Skills – Strong verbal and written communications skills, competency in using Microsoft programs, and basic understanding of information technology is required.
