The Project Manager - Policy Planning will oversee and manage multiple projects within the Global Policy Team, working particularly closely with the Executive Director to ensure all work is executed within deadline and to the highest possible quality. They will develop, maintain and continuously improve processes that help the flow of communication within the policy team and the organization with a particular focus on improving quality of briefings, facts and figures and analysis. 

The Manager will be a close advisor to the Executive Director for Global Policy, will streamline interactions with key constituents, and advise on the use of the ED’s time, as well as facilitate initiatives, projects, and processes on behalf of the Executive Director. The post-holder will play a critical role in building a culture of excellence and delivering on strategic priorities within ONE’s mission to eradicate extreme poverty and will help implement and manage the organization’s policy agenda to a world class standard. 

The Manger will need to be results oriented, effectively managing relevant work-streams, including preparing briefing materials, engaging externally with NGO partners, and working internally with other organizational teams to deliver products that serve a range of stakeholders. The position reports to the Executive Director, Global Policy and is based in the London office. 


  • Create and manage processes to engage team leads throughout the organization to learn of activities and priorities, collect internal and external documents for the Executive Director’s review, and track, monitor and follow projects, action items, and strategies that stem from the Executive Director.
  • Create processes for research, briefings and publications, as well as those needed for principals of the organisation; plan and prepare timely communications from the Executive Director, draft strategic communications, and prepare external correspondence.
  • Oversee the preparation of briefing materials for meetings and events, prioritize invitations and opportunities for the Executive Director, draft event briefings and talking points, and ensure the Executive Director is well prepared for internal and external events.
  • Help organise the team so that the advocacy goals and strategies of the organisation are informed and supported by the Policy Team.
  • Assist and maintain internal and external strategic relationship building; staff the ED, Global Policy at internal and external meetings and events as necessary.
  • Draft team budgets and help manage and execute budgets throughout the year, working closely with the Executive Director, Global Policy.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to anticipate his or her needs on a daily and long term basis, as well as the needs of the team as a whole.
  • Perform any other relevant duties as assigned.
  • Directly line manage the Executive Assistant to create a an effective executive team for the Executive Director. 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • Four years of experience providing senior-level management support, project management, budget experience and advising the direction of work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Ability to consistently apply good judgment and make responsible decisions without the oversight of the Executive Director.
  • Superb professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times.

  • Competence with tracking, coordinating, and follow-up of priorities and projects and ability to delegate tasks and get results from colleagues from all levels of the organisation.

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and take responsibility for delivering projects.
