World Monuments Fund (WMF) is seeking a qualified professional for the role of Development Assistant to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented development department. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, with secondary reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving, the Development Assistant supports the fundraising efforts of the development department. The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial, energetic, pro-active individual with excellent organizational and communication skills. Helping to move forward and support the development department’s most urgent goals and priorities is the key responsibility of this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Vice President of Development with scheduling internal and external meetings, drafting correspondence, tracking expenses, and managing communications with the team
  • Coordinate development team meetings, working with staff to set the agenda, take minutes, and follow up on action items
  • Coordinate with program staff and international affiliates to maintain up-to-date information on projects, events, and initiatives
  • Develop and generate revenue reports for department and senior staff
  • Conduct individual and institutional prospect research, preparing profiles for VP of Development, CEO, and other senior staff
  • Work closely with Executive Assistant to the CEO to coordinate board communications, giving, and select board committee meetings
  • Assist with coordination of events; occasional evenings required
  • Assist with the creation of government, foundation, and corporate proposals and reports, to include research, editing, scheduling, and writing
  • Help maintain the database, updating donor records as well as tracking moves management, proposals, and appeals
  • Monitor WMF’s general, development, and events email inboxes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred major in Art History, English, or International Affairs)
  • 1-2 years of experience in development or similar office environment
  • Computer fluency in Microsoft environment (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Raisers Edge preferred; strong database skills

SKILLS

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with funders and board members and work well with staff at all levels
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work gracefully under pressure

  • Vice President of Development with secondary reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving
