Position description

The European Policy Centre is looking for an experienced, hands-on Editor in Chief/Executive Editor to manage the production of written materials at the EPC. Your main responsibility will be the planning, editing, proofreading and overall management of the think tank’s research papers (on average 90 per year).

The Editor in Chief/Executive Editor will be part of the Communications team and report directly to the Head of Communications.


  • University degree in communication, language/literature (English), journalism or related field;
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in editing and proofreading, and in managing publications;
  • Proven knowledge and experience of managing budgets and competing priorities;
  • Native English speaker.

Main responsibilities:

  • Edit and proofread all EPC publications in line with the house style: reorganise text to create consistency in grammar and format;
  • Recommend substantive editorial changes as needed in close cooperation/agreement with the Head of Communications and the authors (analysts);
  • Cross-check citations and examine and harmonise references;
  • Upon request, write, draft and/or edit written materials such as: event reports, annual report, newsletters, press releases, profiles, marketing/advertising materials, including for the website;
  • Proofread all EPC invitations for public events;
  • Together with the Head of Communications, oversee the publication schedule, coordinating multiple production and print deadlines;
  • Together with the Head of Communications, identify high-profile publications and ensure that their key messages reflect the EPC’s strategic priorities;
  • Liaise with external contractors and partners on the production of publications;
  • Coordinate post-production activities, such as mailing, copyright registration, and permissions activities;
  • Keep track of publishing data to gain insight into readership;
  • Assist the Head of Communications in the implementation and assessment of the EPC Communication Strategy.
