Position description

The research conducted by the professor involves a good knowledge of international migration and international relations, in particular the role of India as a sending country. An interest and knowledge of migration terms, international relations, sending and receiving countries, and role of political lobbying by diaspora groups will be important in the research agenda.

The nature of the research project that the student will support will involve mostly data gathering and compiling resources and statistical data. The research assistant should be familiar with research techniques such as literature research, data mining, library and internet research, MS Office, basic statistics and be in good academic standing.

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent research skills
  • Basic statistical skills
  • Ability to think creatively and solve problems
  • Must be able to work independently without direct supervision on day to day tasks and be able to take initiative
  • Must be a student at Gannon University enrolled full time, with a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Demonstrate leadership skills including strong verbal and written communication skills, working in a team atmosphere, and professionalism
  • Train and learn key systems and resources (copier, printer, computer, online university resources, and Blackboard).

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

Background in Political Science, International Migration, and India’s history, politics, migration patterns and US Immigration History and Background

 

Physical Demands

Ability to walk to the library and check out necessary books
