Position description

The Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA) is an industry coalition of over 50 member companies spanning the entire EV supply chain, including vehicle manufacturers, charging companies, utilities, critical minerals developers, and battery recyclers. Together, we seek to shape federal policy and increase public awareness of EVs and electric transportation. Our coalition advocates for policies that create hundreds of thousands of jobs, secure American global EV manufacturing leadership, dramatically improve public health, and reduce carbon pollution.

ZETA is offering a part-time, paid summer policy fellowship. The Policy Fellow will directly report to Policy Manager, Ronnie LeHane, operating under the direction of Chief of Staff and Policy Director, Leilani Gonzalez. The Fellow shares responsibility for furthering ZETA’s policy and legislative goals. The Fellow will join ZETA for the term of May through August 2025, with potential for an extension.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring and analyzing Congressional hearings, academic studies, and legislative proposals.
  • Conducting research on EV-related topics such as advanced manufacturing, fleet electrification, sustainable critical mineral extraction, light-duty consumer incentives, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, among others.
  • Drafting issue-specific readouts or talking points for ZETA membership and/or Congress.
  • Supporting rapid response policy and communications development when high-profile legislative proposals or regulatory actions become public.
  • Helping draft official ZETA external messaging, including letters to federal agencies and congressional offices, white papers, blogs, and issue briefs.
  • Supporting the ZETA federal policy team leads with legislative tracking and analysis.
  • Collaborating closely with ZETA team members on various buckets of work as needed: public relations, organizational, administrative, and other related tasks.

  • Where applicable, you should be comfortable working with or reporting on numerical analysis and spreadsheet modeling, research, and reporting.
  • Clear writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to quickly synthesize information and effectively communicate key takeaways.
  • Organized and detailed, able to keep track of multiple ongoing deliverables at once.

  • Applicants must be a graduate or undergraduate student.
  • Interest in research-driven public policy.
  • Passion for decarbonizing the transportation sector/supply chain sustainability.
