Position description

*This is a paid position requiring the applicant to reside in or be willing to relocate to a city within or near the Cayo district of Belize. The role is open to international applicants. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, and will be adjusted based on cost of living associated with the applicant's country of residence.

 

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Chief Programs Officer (CPO) the Country Director, Belize provides strategic leadership and oversight for all Pillars, Programs, and Administrative operations in Belize, advancing AIM’s mission to free hearts, lives, and communities from the evil of sex trafficking—in Jesus’ name and Jesus’ way. This role ensures the implementation of AIM’s strategy, cultivating a healthy culture grounded in our Mission, Vision, and Core Values, and drives measurable progress in restoring and transforming lives. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

I.E. THOSE WHICH ARE BASIC, NECESSARY, AND AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE JOB

Communication and Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Chief Program Officer (CPO) and SLT to ensure consistent and effective program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and budget management - communicating needs, successes, concerns and challenges.

  • Collaborate with HR to ensure staffing and personnel needs are being met and that program leaders are following policies and procedures across programs.

  • Collaborate with Finance to establish budgets, ensure program spending is in line with approved budgets, and that proper finance procedures are being followed promptly.

  • Collaborate with AIM-wide Directors of Restoration and Rescue for related program initiatives and to establish consistency across AIM where possible.

  • Forge and maintain strong relationships with relevant international and national parties, organizations, and government agencies where relevant and beneficial for advancing AIM’s global mission.

  • Provide updates, direction, and encouragement to AIM Belize staff, volunteers, and partners.

Leadership

  • Lead AIM initiatives and programs in Belize, ensuring continuing focus on AIM mission, vision, and values.

  • Provide oversight and leadership to program leaders in areas including, but not limited to: budget planning, management training, and program assessment.

  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and accountability, both spiritually and professionally, to direct reports.

  • Assist leaders in setting and achieving program and professional goals.

  • Manage the overall AIM Belize budget, ensuring good stewardship of funding.

Program Oversight 

  • Regularly evaluate program implementation and provide feedback to leadership. 

  • Ensure equal accountability of programs to standards and/or best practices.  

  • Ensure programs’ proper stewardship of annual budget allocation. 

  • Ensure programs’ compliance to Belizean and other applicable laws and AIM policy. 

  • Assist with and keep program leaders accountable to goals identified through AIM operating system (EOS).

ANTICIPATED TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Periodic travel within Belize that may require overnight stays.

  • Occasional international travel may be required.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

 

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Chief Program Officer (CPO)

Direct Reports: Director ARH, Manager Operations, Manager Community Partnerships

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent 

  • 5+ years high-level leadership/management experience required, with 3 or more direct reports and with oversight of complex business divisions or programs/departments with multiple levels of staffing

  • 5+ years of experience working internationally or in Belize required

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Live and work in Belize full-time, and ability to obtain and maintain appropriate work authorization

  • Ability to see the big picture and act in the best interest of AIM’s mission

  • Ability to understand and participate in strategic planning in line with AIM’s vision

  • Good time management, being able to balance the time needed for all AIM Belize functional areas.

  • Understanding and familiarity with Belizean law and customs.
