Position description

The Permanent Representation of Malta to the European Union in Brussels wishes to recruit a Secretary (Full Time), to commence duties with effect from beginning of May/June 2017. We are looking for someone who has:

  • Proven experience in secretarial/administrative positions;
  • High level English written and oral communication skills (B2 or higher);
  • A good working knowledge of French (B1 or higher);
  • Good level of education (levels 5, 6 or 7). Applicants with lower or higher level qualifications will not be shortlisted;
  • Good understanding of EU institutions;
  • Strong initiative, organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Flexibility in view of work exigencies;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office packages and the Internet.

The contract is definite for two years with the possibility of extending it to an indefinite one following a performance appraisal. The successful applicant must be able to obtain and retain a Maltese Government security clearance.

Applicants must have the right to reside and work in Belgium. The Permanent Representation will not be responsible for any costs incurred associated with relocation, accommodation, work permits and visa costs, nor the return of the officer and/or family to their country of origin at the end of the contract.
