Grassroot Soccer (GRS) is an international adolescent health organization that uses the power of soccer to educate, inspire and mobilize young people to lead healthier lives and be agents of change in their communities. Since 2002, GRS has reached over 1.9 million young people in 50 countries with life-saving HIV prevention and sexual and reproductive health information and services.

 

Position Summary: GRS is seeking a dynamic, passionate, team-oriented individual to join their global Business Development (BD) team. This individual will have a passion for promoting youth development and health access in underserved communities and an understanding for the power of sport to transform the lives of young people.

 

The Senior Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving strategic new business opportunities with multi and bilateral donors, foundations, and private sector organizations to advance Grassroot Soccer’s five year strategy. Working closely with GRS leadership, s/he will build and strengthen relationships with international health, development and research organizations to identify new opportunities and forge successful partnerships. S/he will be responsible for building a strong pipeline of new opportunities and managing effective and timely proposal development processes.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting and strengthening internal business development processes, including prospecting, decision making, proposal development, donor communication/coordination, and networking
  • Maintaining a pipeline of new opportunities and prospects, including multi-lateral and bilateral donors, foundations and companies
  • Representing GRS externally at conferences and events to promote our work and brand
  • Technical proposal writing, reviewing, editing and finalization
  • Overseeing regular communication with GRS program teams and business units in southern Africa, as well as maintaining close communication with BD counterparts in the UK
  • Managing BD team members in the NYC office, with support from the Director of Development

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in field relevant to GRS’s work, including but not limited to international development/affairs, public health, education (or equivalent professional experience)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in business development, proposal writing, program management (donor side) or external relations/communication
  • Experience with and knowledge of international health and development issues, including adolescent health, HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and/or education
  • Superior written and oral communication skills and a track record of managing virtual teams
  • Ability to manage teams of multi-disciplinary staff and partners under tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational ability, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail
  • Strategic and analytical thinking, including project conceptualization and design
  • Ability to prioritize, adhere to deadlines and manage multiple processes in a fast-paced environment
