Position description

This position is responsible for coordinating key communications functions for PADF, working closely with the Communications Manager to develop content across multiple platforms and ensure optimum impact. Candidates must be proficient in both Spanish and English. The Communications Coordinator must thrive in a fast-paced environment and quickly comprehend and act on changing priorities when necessary. He/she must have strong verbal and written communications skills and experience with social media and web site content management.

Major Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Support the Communications Manager in the day-to-day operations of the department
  • Coordinate with the Communications Manager to development new content for PADF’s website, social media channels, electronic/printed publications showcasing our field work; continually review and update institutional website; and produce/update program fact sheets
  • Monitor PADF in the media and produce reports on social media and website analytics
  • Use media contact database to draft pitches to journalists on ongoing PADF projects
  • Create multimedia content to promote PADF via web and social media channels (photo galleries, short videos, etc); manage/maintain PADF’s internal database of photographs
  • Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications
  • Help draft monthly newsletter
  • Help process vendor payments and invoices; maintain payment records
  • Offer general writing, editing and clerical support for communications staff


  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in related communications/marketing work
  • Strong writing, copy editing and organizational skills
  • Keen understanding of social media, especially Twitter, Facebook, Instagram
  • Knowledge of Mac platform and Microsoft Office software
  • Software proficiency preferred in: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Final Cut Pro X; and basic knowledge of website CMS management strongly preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Google Analytics and Adwords preferred
  • Knowledge of international development and interest in international affairs preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of Spanish required
  • Superior writing and oral communication skills in English required
  • Must have creativity, flexibility, and be deadline-oriented
  • Must be extremely organized, detail oriented and have excellent time management skills
  • Professional attitude and appearance
