The Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) in the Pamplin College of Business, Virginia Tech, invites applications for the position of Hospitality and Tourism Management International Business Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice to begin August 2018. At minimum, a Master’s degree in a Hospitality and Tourism Management related field or a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with extensive professional experience in hospitality and tourism is required for the position. Applications will be reviewed based on the candidate’s record of, or potential for, teaching across a broad range of topics with a primary focus on international business in hospitality and tourism. This position is in support of the third theme of the Pamplin College of Business Strategic Plan, which focuses on the following: (1) business intelligence, (2) innovation through entrepreneurship, and (3) international business. We encourage candidates, in their letters of application, to articulate specifically how their work and teaching experience will contribute to international business in hospitality and tourism management. Applicants will also need to have the ability to work effectively in a collegial environment. Candidates with extensive international networks in the industry are preferred.
This position is an Academic Year (9 month, August to May), full time teaching appointment. The selected individual will teach undergraduate courses, assist with career advising and industry relations, serve in an advising capacity for student clubs and associations, and serve on departmental and college committees. Additional summer school and winter session teaching may be available.
The HTM Department is one of six Departments in the Pamplin College of Business. We aspire to be the nation’s premier business education and management leadership program in hospitality.
