CI Europe is the organization’s office in charge of public partnerships, fundraising and policy work at EU level, and has the status of Belgian a.s.b.l. The creation, in 2010, of this office reflects CI’s recognition that the European Union (EU) and its member states have a growing influence in the international environmental arena through their policy decisions and their investments, and that influencing the EU institutions is an increasingly critical component of efforts to achieve CI’s mission.
Primary job function:
The Manager for Sustainable Production manages CI’s EU engagement on sustainable production of agriculture commodities, deforestation and climate change chains with policy-makers and corporations. S/he reports to the Managing Director and Vice-President for CI Europe, coordinates closely with the Vice-President of the Center for Environmental Leadership in Business (CELB), and is responsible for the implementation of specific activities for policy and corporate engagement in aforementioned areas.
In these fields s/he manages CI Europe’s daily relations with the European policy community, corporate partners and related organizations (European Commission, Parliament, Council, individual member states, NGOs and other centers of influence as appropriate). S/he disseminates CI’s experience in field demonstration, science, corporate engagement and global policy at the technical level, with the aim that this experience is recognized by European decision makers and corporate partners, and inspires policy and operational changes.
S/he provides regular analysis of EU policy state of play at EU and national level and corporate behavior in relation to sustainable production of agriculture commodities, deforestation and climate change policy. S/he works in close collaboration with the rest of CI Europe, the Policy Center, CELB, and other divisions to provide information about on-going policy processes, and interprets the information to inform CI’s EU policy and corporate strategy.

This is a full time permanent position (Contrat à Durée Indéterminée). Candidates should be EU nationals or have a valid work permit for Belgium.
This position is based in Brussels, Belgium. Some domestic and international travels, estimated at 10% of time.
