Exciting opportunity to join a diverse, multifaceted and highly dynamic team. As part of the 10-member Institutional Support Department, the Senior Development Officer for Corporate Partnerships is responsible for raising funds from US based corporations for assigned themes and programs. In addition, this position coordinates with Oxfam affiliated organizations globally as they seek to develop partnerships with US based corporates.

REPORTS TO: Institutional Support Manager

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To implement the strategies and development of new dynamic, multi-dimensional corporate sustainability partnerships with the Private Sector, to secure significant funding for Oxfam’s work that aligns with Oxfam’s core areas of program expertise and values.

 COORDINATES WITH: Private Sector Department, Institutional Support Department, Public Engagement & Brand Department, Major Gifts Department, Theme Directors for Accountable Development Finance, Inclusive and Resilient Food Systems, and Humanitarian Program & Policy, Oxfam Volunteer Leadership, and Finance Department, as appropriate.


 In collaboration with the Institutional Support team and Corporate Partnerships Manager, manage the relationships and recommend strategy development for assigned prospects; research corporations, corporate foundations and other corporate funding sources to build prospect pools; arrange for and conduct cultivation, solicitation, follow-up and stewardship activities; and participate in overall unit plans for development support.

Develop, implement, administer and measure corporate partnerships, fundraising and cause marketing opportunities. Manage a portfolio of corporate accounts, develop relationships and opportunities from targeting and researching prospects to cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; coordinate implementation of cause marketing initiatives and monitor compliance.

Prepare assessments (including screening of potential corporate partners) of opportunities with recommendations to proceed or not with a corporate/cause marketing opportunity. Maintain up -to -date records on Sales Force/Smartsheet as needed, prepare reports, analysis and recommendations from this analysis regarding corporate partnership and cause marketing opportunities during and after campaigns.

Write and/or edit proposals and reports, including the narrative and financial segments, as well as cover letters, contact reports, briefings, talking points and related material as appropriate to support fundraising strategies. 

Work collaboratively with Oxfam affiliates on confederate-wide policies and practices as well as global corporate opportunities. Implement and coordinate special projects for Oxfam America, Oxfam International and affiliates that further the agency’s corporate funding / brand raising goals and strategy (i.e. special events, multi-affiliate opportunities.).

Work collaboratively with program staff and others regarding how to make programs more marketable to corporate funders.

Provide guidance to program staff on information required for proposals and reports to support successful fundraising with corporates and corporate foundations. Elicit program staff agreement on meeting reporting obligations to corporate donors prior to submission of proposals. Work with program staff to assure plans and systems are in place in order to gather the required information for reporting according to agreed timetables.

Remain current on trends in corporate funding and cause marketing and on changing interests of corporates & corporate foundations.

Undertake donor-related travel as appropriate and share learning internally.

Be well versed in Oxfam programs and, as needed, act as a resource to the fundraising and communications staff regarding program knowledge.

Be familiar with donor information systems. 

Perform other corporate fundraising activities as needed.  


 Serve as a professional and conscientious representative of Oxfam America and the entire Oxfam confederation, maintaining confidentiality of appropriate information.

 Will stay abreast of professional standards, trends and issues affecting this set of responsibilities, demonstrating continuous learning of the field.

 Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a field related to writing, communications, research and analysis, business, political science or international relations, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

 Experience & Core Competencies:

 Minimum 5-7 years related experience, preferably with 1-2 years in successful partnership development for corporates, foundations and cause marketing opportunities. 

Superior writing, oral communication and interpersonal skills. 

Ability to cultivate positive relationships with donors, staff, board members and volunteers. 

Excellent listening and motivational skills.

Strong time management, organizational, planning and administrative skills, including comfort with various information systems, and fluency with word processing and spreadsheet applications on MS Office and databases.

Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices relative to corporate donors and foundations.

Basic knowledge of budget construction and interpretation.


 Ability to communicate in French or Spanish.

Experience in an issue-oriented non-profit organization or in an international development organization.
