The Department of Political Science at Auburn University invites applications for a lecturer position beginning August 16, 2018.
We seek excellent candidates who can complement the existing teaching strengths of our department. Candidates should be able to demonstrate strong command of international relations theory, teach a variety of undergraduate classes, and provide instructionally-related advising for students and organizations. Candidates should have demonstrated ability to teach several of the following courses: Introduction to International Relations, US Foreign Policy, National Security Policy, Model United Nations, Asian Politics and/or our University core course in Global Politics and Issues. We also seek candidates with the ability to teach our core course in American government as needed.
The position of lecturer is a renewable 9-month contract, with the possibility of summer teaching. Based on performance, excellent lecturers have the opportunity to advance to Senior Lecturer after five years through the University’s promotion processes.
The teaching load is 4-4, with the possibility of course reduction for extensive teaching-related service to the department. Teaching experience is required, and excellent communication skills are essential.
Required qualifications include an earned doctorate in Political Science by the start date and excellent teaching evaluations in one or more of the above courses.
The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time of appointment and to continue working legally during employment; excellent communication skills required.
