Position description

Trinity Washington University is seeking adjunct faculty members to teach the following political science courses in the fall semester of 2018.

POLS 241: Intro to International Relations, meets on Tuesdays/Thursdays, from 10:30 am – 11:45 am

POLS 343: US Foreign Policy I, meets on Tuesdays/Thursdays, from 1:30 pm – 2:45 pm.

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates should have earned at least a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in political science, international affairs, or a related discipline, and be able to demonstrate strong teaching skills. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. or ABD with teaching experience, and to candidates who are qualified and available to teach both courses. The IR course has included a simulation activity in the past, so candidates should indicate whether they have experience or interest in running undergraduate simulations.

Official transcripts for all degrees earned, sample course syllabi, course evaluations and/or other evidence of teaching effectiveness, and contact information for three professional references will be needed if the candidate is invited to campus for an interview. Knowledge of best teaching practices is required. Finalists will be invited to campus for an interview and teaching demonstration. Preference given to candidates who demonstrate excellence with engaged and active learning practices.
