Position description

This position is responsible for the overall administration and support of the International Communication (IC) and Ethics, Peace & Global Affairs (EGPA) Programs. The Program Coordinator serves as a contact point for all prospective/current students in the International Communication Program and the Ethics, Peace, and Global Affairs Program. The incumbent assists Graduate Admissions with several recruiting events each year and outreach efforts to hit program goals. This position maintains daily office operations and a calendar of deadlines and events for the Directors and faculty. The Coordinator helps develop and update course schedules for the program. The incumbent is responsible for planning and coordinating the International Communication Program’s and the Ethics, Peace, and Global Affairs Program’s annual and periodic events including symposia, community-building events, and Program guest speakers.

This is a temporary position for a period of one year.

Work Environment

  • This position reports directly to the Director of the International Communication Program within the School of International Service, with a dotted line to the Director of the Ethics, Peace & Global Affairs Program

  • Reporting directly to the position are 2-3 undergraduate Federal Work Study students

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • 35-Nonexempt
  • Coordinator/Analyst B

Salary Range

  • $22.15 - $22.80/hr


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree plus three years of administrative experience

  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and Internet research techniques

  • Accurate, fast typing skills

  • Intercultural sensitivity and competence dealing with diverse populations

  • Strong communication/writing skills

  • The candidate should be able to perform basic office functions, including the ability to lift items up to 15 pounds

Preferred Education and Experience

  • The ideal candidate will be familiar with an academic setting, have an interest in and experience with the field of international relations, maintain flexibility and have the ability to work as a team player
  • Familiarity with Outlook or similar email clients
  • Familiarity with CommonSpot, InDesign and/or Photoshop for web design and posting
