Position description

The Bretton Woods Committee is the non-partisan network of prominent global citizens, which works to demonstrate the value of international economic cooperation and to foster strong, effective Bretton Woods institutions as forces for global well-being.

Committee members are leaders at the top of the business, finance, academic, and non-profit sectors who share the belief that international economic cooperation is essential and best served through strong and effective international financial institutions (IFIs). Through the Committee, members champion global efforts to spur economic growth, alleviate poverty, and improve financial stability.

The Committee organizes frequent conferences and seminars, some designed to reach a broad public audience and some to offer members the opportunity to provide advice, support, and constructive feedback to the management of the IFIs. The Committee also reminds U.S. elected leaders that global economic prosperity and lasting national security are closely tied to continued progress on multilateral issues.

Position Summary:

The Development Director will lead the fundraising initiatives and activities of the [email protected] campaign - a multi-faceted initiative to propel the organization forward and honor the 75th anniversary of the Bretton Woods institutions. The objective for this position is to direct all fundraising efforts towards achieving the $3-5M campaign revenue goal and to build a long-term organizational development strategy.

This position is an opportunity for an experienced fundraiser to help drive transformative change at a critical moment for a small but growing institution. The Development Director will execute development strategy and lay the groundwork for an ambitious organizational growth agenda.

Working closely with the Executive Director, the Development Director will manage and cultivate relationships with an existing pipeline of corporate and major gift prospects as well as identify new prospective corporate, foundation and individual donors. In Year 1, the Development Director will work toward meeting the revenue goals of the Bretton [email protected] campaign by making direct, face-to-face solicitations with major prospective donors; assisting the Executive Director, Leadership Team and other staff as necessary with solicitations; and developing campaign materials and proposals for individuals, corporations, and/or foundations.

In Year 2, the Development Director will build on the success of the Bretton [email protected] campaign by developing and implementing a long-term development strategy that will sustain organizational expansion.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership for implementation of successful $3-5 million fundraising campaign to expand services and put into action the vision of the organizational growth plan.
  • Lead the cultivation and management of a portfolio of corporate and individual major gift prospects and personally solicit and secure funding.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and Leadership Team to execute and coordinate high-level fundraising activities and individual meetings (some travel may be required).
  • Prepare solicitation materials for meetings including one-pagers, briefings, talking points, proposals, pitch decks, and targeted follow up.
  • Diversify and expand the campaign’s corporate and foundation prospect pipeline.
  • Collaborate closely with the Secretariat team to align fundraising strategies, promotions and materials with campaign priorities.
  • Support additional fundraising aspects of campaign including gala ticket sales, event sponsorships and individual giving.
  • Track prospects through the donor life cycle of discovery, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Develop and execute effective donor recognition and stewardship of all campaign gifts.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will thrive working independently as a one-person development team in a small, collaborative setting. Successful candidates will possess significant fundraising experience with a track record of cultivating relationships with people of influence.
