Position description

ITI is looking for a motivated candidate familiar with public policy, government relations, legislative processes, international affairs, and ICT policy to support members of ITI’s Policy team as a Policy Intern. The intern will perform the below duties as a key member of the ITI Team, working closely will all Policy staff.

This internship is unpaid, but eligible for academic or course credit if approved by your educational institution. Applicants should anticipate working availability from late January until early May, roughly for a total of 12 weeks at a maximum of 30 hours per week. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitoring legislative and policy proposals in global markets, including but not limited to regions of Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Latin America
  • Assist in drafting fact sheets, position papers, letters, comments, and other written materials for policymakers
  • Maintaining tracking sheets for policy developments, industry contacts, and other data as necessary
  • Assisting in the drafting of strategic recommendations and other written products for ITI members
  • Monitoring current events and composing news clippings
  • Compiling data and other information for research intensive projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program focused on political science, public policy, international affairs, economics, technology policy (e.g., cybersecurity), relevant STEM (e.g., engineering, computer science), or a related field
  • Demonstrated interest and knowledge of technology policy
  • Strong open source research, written communication, and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail as well as ability to summarize quickly and understandably
  • Superior time management and organization
  • Self-starter working well in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required
  • Foreign language competency preferred, but not necessary, in languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, or Bahasa Indonesian
