HuffPost is a Pulitzer Prize-winning source of breaking news, video, features, and entertainment, as well as a highly engaged global community for opinion and conversation. The site launched its first international edition in May 2011.
HuffPost is looking for a deputy enterprise editor to support a senior enterprise editor and help manage and edit a team of 13 reporters who cover policy and politics. The ideal candidate will be an organized, thoughtful and creative leader. Impeccable judgment — news and otherwise — is non-negotiable.
We want someone who is eager to get the best out of reporters of all skill levels and ready to take our coverage to the next level. You should be able to explain how you will push reporters to break news and how you will work to make sure that their stories attract national and international attention. And you should be a passionate and honest collaborator.
HuffPost creates journalism for ordinary people, not tip-sheets for elites, so you should know how to edit stories so that they grab readers and hold their attention to the very end. HuffPost tells stories in many formats, so you must be comfortable working in text, audio, and visual media, and be excited to collaborate closely with others on complex multimedia. Experience with investigative journalism is a plus.
You will be joining a diverse newsroom that reaches nearly 170 million people across the globe every month, and many millions more through our social platforms and partner platforms like Yahoo and AOL, which together reach over a billion users every month.
This position is open to applicants in all locations, but candidates interested in working in our Los Angeles or San Francisco bureaus -- or those willing to work a late-shifted schedule from our Washington, D.C. or New York bureaus -- are preferred.
