Position description

Chemonics seeks a monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) advisor for a five-year Feed the Future Bangladesh Agricultural Growth Activity. This $10-25 million activity will be closely linked with other Feed the Future activities. The activity’s purpose is to increase the effective management of Bangladeshi businesses in private sector agriculture while increasing business engagements at the farmer level. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead all MEL components of the contract, including managing the MEL process and system;
  • Provide strategic direction on knowledge management and research;
  • Streamline how the project tracks progress toward projected outcomes;
  • Use adaptive management techniques based on project monitoring data to ensure implementation is responsive to the client;
  • Develop, introduce, and use MEL tools;
  • Lead evaluations and assessments, developing the appropriate indicators, baseline data, and results;
  • Develop the strategy behind collaboration and adaptive learning;
  • Supervise MEL staff.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as rural and agricultural development, business and marketing, international trade, economics, social sciences, and international development;
  • Minimum of eight years of relevant professional experience focused on economic development and private sector engagement;
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating MEL processes across multiple actors and activities;
  • Demonstrated experience with MEL tools and practices, including data analysis and report writing;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in challenging environments and with multicultural teams;
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain internal and external relationships with stakeholders, partners, and staff;
  • Working knowledge of and experience with multilateral and bilateral regulations and procedures;
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
  • Fluency in English required
