The Politics and International Relations Subject Group at the University of Hertfordshire are in the School of Humanities on the University's de Havilland campus in Hatfield in convenient commuting distance of, and with excellent transportation links to, London.
Main duties and responsibilities
We are seeking to employ an outstanding candidate to provide excellent teaching and support to our diverse student body and to strengthen its research profile with high-quality research outputs. The successful candidate will be working as part of a dedicated, proactive and collegiate group of staff members and will have the opportunity to shape both the taught curriculum and the research agenda in Politics and International Relations through innovative ideas and approaches.
Skills and experience
You will bring proven experience in teaching in Politics and International Relations or a related discipline, and demonstrate a breadth and depth of specialist knowledge within the discipline to underpin your teaching. You will be able to demonstrate experience of contributing to curriculum development and periodic reviews. This post requires someone who can both design and deliver course materials, has a clear research agenda and underpins this with excellent communication skills, high levels of organisational ability with demonstrable experience of successfully managing conflicting demands whilst meeting deadlines. You will be adaptable to workload changes within a team environment. A focus on the student experience is central to our values, so you will bring a holistic approach to enhancing the wider student experience, evidencing high levels of pastoral care and academic support to students, being mindful of their diverse backgrounds, perspectives and needs.
