The Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI), a program of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK), provides strategic advocacy assistance on global public health issues to drive policy change campaigns around the globe to improve health. As part of the Obesity Prevention Program (OPP), GHAI works with partners to improve the nutrition policy environment, in countries including Barbados, Brazil, Colombia, Jamaica, Mexico and South Africa. The OPP focuses on the passage and implementation of four key policies:
GHAI seeks an Associate Director for Research to support our efforts on OPP policy change campaigns related to healthy food policy. The Associate Director will serve as a subject matter expert on these policy issues, and will work with the GHAI headquarters team and with partners and other stakeholders to translate and use research in support of our advocacy campaigns.
The Associate Director will work in partnership with academic research partners and civil society organizations to advance policy focused advocacy campaigns and regulatory change. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of research tools and data analysis, and the ability to ensure that research results are brought to bear on policy efforts in priority countries. This requires in-depth knowledge and expertise on key policy issues, understanding of critical arguments for and against policies, and the ability to identify key data points to develop effective advocacy messaging. The Associate Director will provide strategic input into the planning and design of research studies in OPP focus countries.
This position reports to the GHAI Vice President directing the Obesity Prevention Program. The role is based in Washington, DC and is open to U.S. citizens and other applicants who already possess U.S. work authorization.
