Group Summary

The North America Team develops and executes policy, advocacy, communications and government relations strategies to build political support and advance domestic and global programmatic priorities that are funded by, or executed within, the United States, Canada, and the United Nations. Management of cross-cutting assets, tools and engagements that are utilized across all teams and sub-teams, using these assets to craft strategies across teams.

Position Summary

Strategically develop and manage one or more portfolio of grants and contracts requiring high-level grant management skills, monitoring and evaluation.

 

Drive the integrated marketing and digital engagement plans for communications campaigns focused on the foundation’s work in the United States, including public education, mobility from poverty, and international development investments. The position will identify key campaign needs, aligned to advocacy goals and outline the strategic marketing plans required (how to best use earned, owned and paid media channels). Provide clear creative briefs to the content team and partner closely with designers, video producers and creatives to execute a plan across channels. Requires strong thought partnership and a creative mindset.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Work with Deputy Director, Public Engagement and Insights to develop and implement external relations strategies, including identifying and cultivating key non-governmental partners and mobilizing key constituencies and audiences in support of foundation priorities.
  • Strategically leverage foundation assets, including leadership voice and campaigns, to reach key partners in the U.S. (including focus states), Canada and the UN.
  • Build and maintain an editorial calendar of public engagement opportunities
  • Develop clear creative briefs for campaigns; lead campaign execution in partnership with foundation stakeholders
  • Select and manage relationships with creative vendors to guide content development optimized to audience and channel.
  • Collect, organize and apply insights to inform multi-media strategy and best practices across platforms and channels

 

Position Reports to: Deputy Director, Public Engagement and Insights

 

Core Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work with efficiency, diplomacy, and flexibility particularly as part of a team. Experience working on teams with diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Experience in strategic planning and strategy implementation.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills, and experience advocating and communicating with a broad and diverse audience.
  • Experience in a role requiring collaboration in a complex organization and working with external organizations.
  • Experience identifying key performance indicators and measuring campaign impact
  • Understanding of messaging and storytelling across diverse audiences
  • Experience building and executing multi-media (video, social, earned media, etc.) campaigns

 

Education and Experience

  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; Communications, English, Journalism, Literature, Public Relations, Political Science or other relevant area of study
  • At least 7+ years of progressive experience, or equivalent experience in communications, journalism, public policy, or a related field
  • Experience working in non-profit/public health or development, government, communications agency, or private sector organization is strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to legally work in the country where this position is located without visa sponsorship.
