This is a locally engaged staff position at an overseas Australian Diplomatic Mission.
As an Information Technology specialist, the position provides specialised Information Communication and Technology (ICT) services to Australian Defence Staff (Washington), technical level support and day-to-day network administration of all Defence Information Environment equipment. Responsibility includes both on the Defence Restricted Network and the Defence Secret Network located within the Embassy of Australia and across the North America Region (NAR). This position works directly to the LE6 ICT Support Manager administering the day-to-day operations of the Defence Information Technology team.

Formal ICT qualifications, preferably formal IT training and qualifications, ideally with a degree or similar.
Demonstrated prior responsibility for network administration or network administration experience and formal qualifications, with experience in administration of secure networks desirable.
In-depth knowledge of current networking hardware and operating systems in a mixed networked environment.
Sound knowledge of Wide Area Network systems, IP protocol and secure networks.
In-depth knowledge of current PC and related hardware and maintenance.
Demonstrated high level commitment to quality customer service, support and delivery.
Demonstrated ability to maintain and apply working knowledge of technical and regulatory
changes within the government, both in Australian and in US environments
Strong oral, interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate
effectively with hardware and software technical support personnel.
Strong client focus and a demonstrated capacity to deal with end-users of wide ranging
ability in a timely and courteous manner.
